Biography

Richard Burton, son of John Burton and his wife Mary,[1][2]was born on 25 January 1820 in Birmingham, Warwickshire.[1][2][3]He was baptised on 7 January 1822 at St Martin's church, Birmingham, Warwickshire.[1][2]His first marriage was to Mary North on 7 October 1840 at All Saints church, West Bromwich, Staffordshire.[4][5]Following the death of his first wife he then married Charlotte Dutton on 6 March 1861 at St Peter and St Paul, Aston, Warwickshire.[6][7][8]No trace has been found of the exact date/place of his death, but he died before 25 May 1885 when his son Richard Burton got married.[9]

On 30 March 1851 still in Richmond Terrace, Coventry Road, Aston, Warwickshire, with his children David Burton aged 9 and Fanny Burton aged 7 and his assistant William Coaton. Living next door was Charlotte Page, who 10 years later was to become his second wife.[12][14]

On 6 March 1861 in Deritend, Warwickshire.[8]

On 7 April 1861 at 54 Coventry Road, Deritend, Warwickshire, with his wife Charlotte Burton, his children from his first marriage Richard Burton aged 10, Fanny Burton aged 17 and Mary Ann Burton aged 9 and his nieces Ann Slater aged 24 and Jane Slater aged 12.[3][15]
